A little girl came over to a man and told him she had a secret. He gave a polite laugh. She was a pleasant child. She asked if he wanted to hear her secret. Humoring her he told her he would. He knelt down so she could reach his ear. She cupped her hands and began to whisper to him. She told him how her father had sneezed and her mother had stabbed him to death.
He looked at her with shock. He decided to question her a little, so he asked her why her mother had attacked her father. She told him that her mom didn’t want her or herself to get sick. He asked her why. She told him that when people sneeze they get sick and die and that they give it to other people. She said her mom was standing in the kitchen when her dad sneezed, and right after the sneeze she came into the room and stabbed him.
He was finding it hard to understand her story. At the time many were naïve. He did not know about the sickness yet and felt ill by her story.
She said her mom told her to keep it secret or others might find out they were home when her dad sneezed.
A woman’s voice called out and the little girl said she had to go. She ran down the street and disappeared into a house.
